High speed visual inspection of small, randomly oriented jars is a task that's impossible for a human to execute reliably. Modern AI-powered cameras, paired with robotic sorting and packing, can handle it easily.

At this plastics manufacturer, our Rapid Machine Operator Ed is paired with an Elementary digital inspection system for an incredibly fast and reliable automated quality check of small jars. The jars pass one by one through the inspection process, where the Elementary system is able to confirm accurate label placement and print legibility regardless of the jar's orientation.

An automated sorting system kicks rejected jars into a bin for re-labeling. The robot automatically detects when enough jars have passed inspection for it to pick, rotate, and place them on a conveyor carrying them to the next process step.

Is this the most exciting operation we've ever automated? Heck no. But we're proud of our partnership with Elementary. Their sophisticated and incredibly fast inspection system turned a task that was impossible to automate just a few years ago into something almost trivial. Ed is obviously doing a great job, but it's the Elementary system that's the star of the show.
